OEM Patch Samples: What to Confirm Before Approving Bulk Production
What must be agreed before approving OEM patch samples?
The product reference, drawing, material, sample checks, artwork and pack count should match one written order specification. Record acceptance criteria, unresolved changes and commercial terms before approving bulk production.
| Record | Buyer and supplier agreement | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Reference | Catalog ID, drawing version and sample identification | Approved / revise / open |
| Product | Material, dimensions, outline and agreed checks | Approved / revise / open |
| Packaging | Count, artwork, printed surfaces and language | Approved / revise / open |
| Documents | Applicable report/model and any further evaluation | Confirmed / open |
| Commercial terms | MOQ, sample-fee refund, unit price, inspection and schedule | Confirmed / open |
For a shaped acne patch, check each outline and the sheet mix separately. For supplier records, use the verification checklist.

A sample is most useful when it answers a written purchasing brief. Before approving an OEM patch project, make sure the product sample, packaging sample and quotation refer to the same specification. A familiar shape or similar photograph does not establish that two products use the same construction.
1. Start with the product reference
Write down the supplier's catalog reference and the intended product format. For acne patches, distinguish the selected hydrocolloid or hydrogel reference. For reusable silicone eye patches, identify the shape and the intended cosmetic-use format. A nasal strip project needs its own material, dimensions and spring-construction brief. Keep these categories separate when asking for samples.
If you are matching an existing product, provide photographs, dimensions and a reference sample where available. Mark anything that is only an example rather than an approved specification. Ask the manufacturer which details can be confirmed from the sample and which require further development.
2. Define every counting unit
A quotation can be priced per patch, pair, sheet, sachet, retail box or carton. List the units separately. For an acne patch project, state patches per sheet, sheets per sachet or box, and packs for each design. For eye patches, distinguish individual pieces from pairs. For nasal strips, separate individual strips from finished retail boxes.
Ask whether the minimum order applies to the overall project or separately to each size, color and artwork version. Do not assume that one total can be divided across unlimited variants. Request the carton arrangement, dimensions and weight before comparing freight quotations.
3. Review the sample and artwork together
Record the dimensions, outline, backing or release liner where applicable, surface appearance and printing for the selected sample. Check the pack contents against your written brief. Identify the logo version, printed surfaces, barcode placement and instruction language.
If packaging artwork is not final, label it as a draft. Request the relevant packaging dimensions before finishing the layout. Keep an approval record that identifies the sample and artwork version, together with any changes that remain open. A sample with one pack count should not silently become an order for another pack count.
4. Ask for documents that match the product
A factory supplier assessment describes the supplier and the assessment scope. It does not automatically establish product-specific certification or substantiate every proposed claim. Ask what documentation is available for the exact product specification and destination market.
When you need a test report, confirm what sample, construction and test conditions it covers. Identify any additional evaluation required for your intended product before approving the order. Avoid printing performance or certification claims on packaging simply because a similar product uses them.
5. Agree on commercial and inspection terms
At MZBIO, MOQ depends on product characteristics and is confirmed in the quotation. A sample fee is paid upfront and refunded after an order is placed. Confirm the amount, what the sample request includes and how the refund will be applied to your order.
Request written confirmation of production timing, the quotation unit, packaging charges, any setup costs, payment arrangement and shipping terms. Discuss the proposed inspection method, acceptance criteria and defect-handling process before production. If a term has not been agreed, leave it as an open item in the approval brief.
Send a complete project brief
To request an OEM/ODM quotation from MZBIO, provide the catalog reference, dimensions, material or construction, quantity per variant, pack count, artwork stage and destination country. If you have not selected a parameter yet, say so. A clear list of open questions gives the manufacturer a practical starting point for sampling and quotation.
